I did not hire someone who was perfect for the job.
A job seeker sent over 50 resumés to us recently.
He had been sending me emails for the past two months
I was impressed by his persistence.
He seemed to be a perfect candidate for a sales job.
Finally, I picked up the phone and had an initial conversation with him.
And we decided we would connect again next week to see when we can meet.
Next week, he came straight to our office and called me.
But I wasn’t in the office, as there was no meeting scheduled.
He got angry and started sending me messages that we were supposed to be meeting.
And I had given him a false promise.
His attitude was a surprise for me.
He taught me:
1) Defining boundaries is so important in anything we do.
2) Anything which lacks boundaries, lacks respect. Even water, when limitless, becomes a flood.
