Empathy doesn’t help!
One week back, me and my friend stumbled on a boy in the street.
Due to the pandemic, he had problem with his earnings.
I might have just given him some amount to help.
But my friend asked him, “ Do you need money or a job?”
“Sir I am not a beggar, help me with a job”, He said.
My friend took his number and referred him to a company – where they had an office boy position.
Today, the boy got the job!
This taught me:
It’s not empathy we should be striving for, but compassion.
Instead of just emotional support, let us try to take small steps towards practical help.
