Many times, I was promised by friends for help when in need, but they disappeared when they were needed the most.
One of them even said I was disturbing him.
I felt defeated first.
But when I realized that the only person that could help me is me, I stopped waiting for someone to drive my career forward.
Sooner or later, opportunities came knocking on my door.
I learned the hard way:
1) People will only do business with you if you add value to their objectives – expecting favours is useless.
2) Very few people will ever go out of the way for you.
Hence, I stopped believing that businesses only depend on relationships.
And starting focusing on creating genuine value and trust.
Depending ONLY on people is depending on shortcuts.
And shortcuts are always short-lived.
Do you agree?
