I met someone who seemed to be in very needy condition.
He was sitting on a footpath in a shopping mall parking lot.
I tried offering him some money.
But to my surprise, he refused to accept it.
He said, “I may be homeless, but I am not a beggar.”
“I would prefer to earn money from you. I want to provide value.”
“How is that possible?” I asked him.
He offered to clean my car thrice in a week.
And I agreed.
He did perfectly and earned money from me.
My experience with him taught me:
1) Earning money is not enough, earning money with respect is what matters.
2) We are worth more than our problems.
